自動(dòng)鏈排爐爐排的外形類似皮帶運(yùn)輸機(jī)。煤由上煤機(jī)送進(jìn)煤斗，再?gòu)拿憾穬?nèi)依靠自重落到爐排上，隨爐排自前后緩慢移動(dòng)。煤閘板的高度可以調(diào)節(jié)，以控制煤層的厚度?？諝鈴臓t排下面送入，于煤層運(yùn)動(dòng)方向相交。煤在爐膛內(nèi)受到輻射加熱，依次完成預(yù)熱、干燥、著火、燃燒、直至燃盡?；以鼊t隨爐排移動(dòng)到后部，經(jīng)過擋渣板（俗稱老鷹鐵）落入后部灰渣斗由刮板出渣機(jī)排除。

鏈排爐的種類很多，按其結(jié)構(gòu)形式一般可分為鏈帶式、橫梁式、鱗片式、傾斜式和往復(fù)式等；其中，鏈條式爐排和橫梁式爐排因其結(jié)構(gòu)的優(yōu)越性、使用壽命長(zhǎng)和操作的高機(jī)械化等特點(diǎn)，被廣泛應(yīng)用于煤泥、煤炭烘干領(lǐng)域，并取得良好的烘干效果。
